Otis

Eastern Screech Owl

Otis is one of the newest members of our education team. Otis hatched in 2019 outside of Chicago, IL. As a young nestling, he was attacked by a predator which resulted in the loss of his left eye. Otis was a beloved ambassador at another rehabilitation center and was recently transferred to our center. Otis resides in an enclosure with fellow Screech Owl, Orlando.

Did You Know?

Eastern Screech Owls are named for the call that they make! Unlike some other owl species which hoot, the Eastern Screech owl is known for its trill and whinny which sound like a lady screaming in distress!

Sponsor Otis

Symbolically adopt one or more of our resident animals for yourself or as a gift to someone you love. Adoptions help us to provide professional care for our ambassador animals including veterinary visits, enclosure enhancements, high-quality food and enrichment.

Help Us Support Wildlife

We rely on donations from the community to provide the best possible rescue, care and rehabilitation to Long Island’s Wildlife.
