Don’t miss out on the guided walk throughout the refuge to get a look at the wild raptors flying south for the winter. Bring your binoculars to spend the day birding & enjoying one of the most significant bird sanctuaries in the northeastern United States!

It’s Baby Squirrel Season…Again!
Did you know that Eastern Gray Squirrels have two breeding seasons a year? The first round of babies arrive in early spring and the second in late summer.
Baby squirrels often become injured or separated from their mom when their nest is disturbed during tree work or due to severe storms. Through our hotline, our rehabilitators assess each situation with photos and determine if babies need to be brought to a wildlife rehabilitator. If baby squirrels are healthy, a reunion with mom is very likely. We walk callers through how to do so and have had great success reuniting many squirrel families!
The best time of year for tree work is November-February when there aren’t active nests for baby wildlife. If you find a baby squirrel in possible distress, please contact us for advice:
