Wildlife Hospital Volunteers

Wildlife Center of Long Island operates a year-round wildlife rehabilitation hospital which serves 2,200 injured and orphaned wild patients each year from throughout Queens, Nassau and Western Suffolk counties 

Pigeon Rescue

These volunteers commit to a four-hour shift once weekly where you are required to be on-site at our wildlife hospital to work with our rehabilitation supervisor to provide care to injured and orphaned wildlife. You will get real hands on experience in wildlife rescue & rehabilitation

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • Extremely dependable and punctual attendance
  • One weekly four hour shift in the morning 
  • Minimum commitment of 6 months
  • Ability to work on your feet and perform physical work (light lifting and bending) both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Emotionally stable
  • Excitement and willingness to learn about local wildlife
