Halloween Raffle!
Our Education Ambassadors are birds and animals who have injuries or conditions that prevent them from surviving in the wild. We provide permanent sanctuary for these animals, including the nutritious food & medical care that they need to thrive.
These animals form the basis of our Wildlife Education Programs. We offer 200+ programs annually and connect with thousands of children & adults. These programs help to foster a love and appreciation for Long Island’s wildlife, and an understanding of the wonder and magnificence of our natural world.
Our Halloween Raffle provides significant support for the care of our Animal Ambassadors. Your participation makes a big difference

Patient Spotlight

Common Tern Chick
This small shorebird, a Common Tern, was rescued by a Good Samaritan that noticed the young baby bird floating alone in the water of Manhasset Bay! We suspect this chick was picked up by a larger bird but managed to get away. Our rehabilitation team raised the tern, feeding a diet of fish supplemented with vitamins and providing various enclosures throughout his development that mimicked the natural environment of this species. After about 10 weeks in care, this chick had matured from a tiny ball of fluff to a fully developed bird ready to return to the skies. The tern was released into a large flock of Common Terns at Nickerson Beach!
