Orlando

Eastern Screech Owl

Orlando was admitted to our hospital in 2009 as a confiscation from a landscaper who had found Orlando as a nestling while conducting tree trimming. Unfortunately, this person chose to keep Orlando illegally. Due to spending his formative early weeks in human care, Orlando is tame and does not possess the ability to successfully hunt in the wild.

Did You Know?

Eastern Screech Owls can be found in our area in two distinct color morphs: red & gray. An intermediate color form, more brown in color, can also be found in our area. All of these owls display excellent camouflage which helps them to blend in very well with their surroundings.

Sponsor Orlando

Symbolically adopt one or more of our resident animals for yourself or as a gift to someone you love. Adoptions help us to provide professional care for our ambassador animals including veterinary visits, enclosure enhancements, high-quality food and enrichment.

Help Us Support Wildlife

We rely on donations from the community to provide the best possible rescue, care and rehabilitation to Long Island’s Wildlife.
